Scented Acres Lavender Farm, Vancouver, WA

Yes, I know there is not a single sprig of lavender in Marc’s shot, instead he wandered off and found this old tractor and used his B&W Infrared camera! This is a lovely little farm run by our insurance agent’s Mom, Mary. She sells “u pick your own” lavender, which I did! She also sells plants, jellies, candles, soap and this amazing Deep Therapy Lavender Hand Cream that Mary makes herself. She told me to come back at two weeks before Christmas because she has everything out including tea, cookies and much more! Marc brought home an Brugmansia (Angel’s Trumpet) Plant.

Vancouver Lake, Vancouver

On a day with some great clouds and knowing the storm was coming we took a drive to try to find an open area so we could shoot the clouds before the storm. Teri had Vancouver Lake on her list of places to see so we thought we would try that area. What a lovely lake. Not too big, lots of grass, the lake was pretty smooth and you can see Mount St. Helens (barely with the clouds) from where we were standing. Then we kept driving past the Lake and found an open field area with some really nice, full trees.
Only a short distance from downtown Vancouver. Very peaceful. We will have to go again on a lazy day and just relax and picnic.

Bridal Veil Falls

Bridal Veil Falls, just outside of Portland

A lovely walk 1/4 of a mile down a well laid out gravel trail, lined with small white Trillium flowers. There is a wooden bridge (see Teri’s photo) and steps going up to the falls. At the top there is a viewing platform. Be prepared for lots of people.

To get to the falls follow the road signs. There are lots of other waterfalls and trails in the area, that’s why people are parking along the side of the roads – don’t park in the first parking area because Bridal Veil Falls is not there. Use the signed parking lot further along the road.

There are flushing toilets and running water (always a plus for Teri). We class this as an easy hike.
