Stone House Ruins, Near Camas, Washington

Stone House Ruins, Near Camas, Washington

On Highway 14 just east of Franz Road. There is a little clearing on the north side of the road with a barely perceptible trail leading into the woods. Less than 100 feet from the road but hard to find because of the overgrown trees and foilage reclaiming the ruins.

Horsetail Falls, Near Portland

Just 10 minutes from Multnomah Falls, Horsetail Falls is so close to the road, you can just drive by and see it. No facilities and no water however, there is a water fountain about 5 minutes further South on the West side of the road. I’m assuming that it is the river water, which in this area is drinkable. Upper Horsetail Falls (Pony Falls) on the other hand is a mile or so walk up the trail. The waterfall is really pretty and you can actually go under the falls to see the waterfall from a different perspective, which we really enjoyed. It’s lush and green there and the hike continued to two more falls, more on that next week. If you’re wondering if we would take this hike again the answer is “hell yes!” We still loved it and loved the beauty that surrounded the falls.

The Rose Gardens, Washington Park, Portland

Where to begin… the roses are in abundance, all different colors and varieties. It’s lovely of course, you have to go when they are in bloom; what a nice range of color and beauty. The gardens overlook the city skyline and there is an amphitheatre for concerts just beyond the gardens. Washington Park is amazing with lots to see and do throughout its 400 plus acres. Because it’s an inner city park, parking can be hard to find.
