After moving to the Pacific Northwest in June 2014, we decided to start this blog as a record of our outings to keep our families and friends informed of our "adventures" and to possibly help any lowly travelers on their own exploration of the Pacific Northwest.
Not everybody’s choice of venue, but it is open only once a year on Memorial Day, and having never been to a mausoleum before, we thought it might be worth a visit. There are seven floors of urns; some in just a case, the richer ones in their own rooms.
Mind boggling. Very clean and presentable on the top floors, and then as you descend deeper down towards the seventh, less and less looked after, and darker and darker.
By the time you get to the bottom, there are things like this broken couch, and peeling, flaking paint on the ceilings and walls. Started in 1905 and still going. One of us is glad we went, but we don’t need to go again.
